Strawberry Banana Milkshake

This simple, refreshing Strawberry Banana Milkshake recipe is perfect for when you need something quick, cold, and naturally sweet! With just 3 basic ingredients, strawberry, banana, and milk, you’ll make a creamy, fruity drink in 5 minutes!

Great milkshake for summer mornings, snack time, or a refreshing afternoon treat.

This has always been our family’s go-to quick milkshake. My mom used to make it for my sister and me whenever she got fresh-picked strawberries from the countryside.

We knew a big batch of this milkshake was on the way. We all loved it because it’s simple, well-balanced, nutritious, and wholesome. Every sip brings back memories of those warm summer days at home. 

It’s thick, creamy, and packed with fresh fruit. And the best part? It’s customizable to fit your dietary needs. I make this milkshake whenever I have strawberries and bananas on hand!

Ingredients

Serves 2-3 glasses

Ingredients of making strawberry and banana milkshake: fresh strawberries, one banana, honey bottle, and milk bottle displayed on the white table.
  • Strawberries (fresh or frozen) - 1 cup
  • Banana (peeled, ripe) - 1
  • Milk ( dairy or plant-based) - 1 cup
  • Honey (or sweetener of choice) - 1-2 tbsp ( optional )
  • Ice cubes - Some

Prepare Your Strawberries 

Hull the strawberries by removing the green leafy tops using a small knife or a straw.

Wash them 2-3 times with plenty of water to get rid of any dirt or sand.

Shake off excess water or pat dry with a paper towel. You don’t want extra water messing with your milkshake.

How to make Strawberry Banana Milkshake at Home

  1. Cut the strawberries into halves or quarters for easy blending in the blender. Peel and slice the banana into chunks. 
  2. Add the sliced strawberries and banana to your blender.
  3. Drizzle in honey, then pour in the milk.
  4. Blend on high until everything is smooth and creamy.
  5. Make a taste test and adjust the sweetness. If it’s not sweet enough, add a bit more honey and blend again.
  6. Add ice cubes to the glass, then pour in the milkshake. Garnish with small strawberry chunks and banana slices on top. 

Note: (adjust the honey amount to your taste), use a chilled glass to keep the milkshake cool.

My Favourite Swaps

You can use almond milk, oat milk, soy milk, or coconut milk for a dairy-free version.

Replace honey with maple syrup, agave, dates, or skip it if your banana is super ripe.

Also, we love to try it with mango, avocado, raspberries, or blueberries. Whatever fruits are in season!

You Can Make Ahead

Chop and freeze your strawberries and banana in advance. Store them in a zip-top bag for quick blending.

Make pre-portioned milkshake packs! Pack fruit chunks into freezer-safe bags or containers. Just dump into a blender, add milk and ice when you need!

Making it ahead for guests? Store in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Shake or stir before drinking, some separation is normal.

Love thick creamy milkshake? You can make it thicker by using frozen fruit and skipping the ice. Or add milk and double/heavy cream half half. You are welcome!

Top with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla yoghurt for a cute coffee shop style strawberry banana milkshake.

Whenever I have leftover milkshake, I turn it into popsicles. My son absolutely loves it! Just pour into moulds and freeze overnight for healthy summer milky fruit pops!

Notes

  • Use almond milk, oat milk, soy milk, or coconut milk for a dairy-free version.
  • Can omit honey or swap with maple syrup, agave or a choice of sweetener. 
  • You can make it ahead and store it in an air-tight jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Shake well before serving. 
  • If you are adding frozen banana and frozen strawberries, you can skip adding ice.
