This 10-minute spam fried rice is so delicious and simple to prepare. You can whip up everything in no time and perfect busy weeknight meals. Make a delicious dinner by using only leftover rice, spam, vegetables, and pantry staple seasonings.
First, cut the spam into small even cubes, prepare the vegetables and set them aside.
Heat the large wok or pan over medium-high heat. Drizzle oil and saute the spam for 1-2 minutes until slightly brown.
Then add the chopped garlic and onion and stir fry for a few seconds until fragrant. Follow with the sweet corn, carrot, and green peas.
Push the vegetables to one side of the pan and pour the whisked egg. Once the egg is set at the bottom, break it into small pieces.
Next, add the cooked rice and season the dish with soy sauce, chicken powder, and white pepper. Combine everything well and stir fry for another 1-2 minutes.
Drizzle sesame oil and sprinkle spring onions. Make a final quick toss, turn off the heat and enjoy!
Notes
Use cold refrigerated rice, which is less moist and is harder than freshly cooked rice.
Spam substitute: Chinese lap cheong, Italian sausage, Turkish sausage, chorizo, frankfurters, etc.
There is also halal spam or luncheon meat made from chicken or turkey. For vegetarians, vegan meat-free spam is a great option.
Personalize your spam fried rice with your favourite veggies.
Add a drizzle of crispy chilli oil, Lao Gan Ma chilli oil, or Sriracha sauce for a kick of heat.
You can also make Hawaiian-style spam fried rice by adding pineapple chucks.
