Easy air fryer sesame prawn toast recipe, loaded with delicious prawn fillings and crispy toasty bread. No deep frying needed! Tastier and healthier options for Chinese takeaway shrimp toast. Perfect finger food for your next party!
Use a sharp knife and chop the prawns until it forms a paste. ( You can use food processor instead. )
Mix it with egg white, grated garlic, spring onions, soy sauce, cornstarch and sesame oil. Season it with salt and pepper to taste.
Trim off the crusts of the bread and slice each piece into triangles or squares on your preference. ( You can leave the crust for extra texture. ) Preheat the air fryer to 200C/400F.
Divide the prawn fillings into 12 portions. Spread the prawn mixture evenly on the bread. Sprinkle sesame seeds over it.
Place the prawn toasts in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Spray cooking oil over them. Air fry the toasts for 5-7 minutes or until golden and crispy. Enjoy with your favourite dipping sauce.
Notes
Use stale bread, which is manageable and easy to spread the prawn fillings on. Soft bread can easily get mushy while spreading.
You can also try with another type of bread, such as wholemeal, French baguette, sourdough, or focaccia bread.
Air frying time can vary according to the bread's thickness and amount of fillings. Adjust the cooking time accordingly.
Baking Option: Instead of frying the prawn toast in air fryer, you can bake it in the oven. Place them over the lined baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 10-12 minutes or until crispy and golden.
Dipping sauce: Chinese sweet and sour sauce, Thai sweet chilli sauce, soy sauce with a splash of rice vinegar and chilli oil, Sriracha sauce, spicy mayo, etc.
